Glowing tubes.
Visible reasoning.
A single AI-generated JSON record powers the page. The animation is not the evidence.
What the answer means
YES or NO is the operator’s explicit, source-linked editorial answer to the broad question. It is not a computed extinction probability, an expert consensus, or an official warning. Scope and confidence belong to each run. NO does not predict an imminent disaster. YES cannot guarantee universal safety.
How the pressure dials work
The five positions describe the AI’s concern within each topic’s stated scope: 0 Quiet (no material abnormality established in that scope); 1 Watch (bounded concern); 2 Unresolved (material hazard or technical uncertainty); 3 Serious (serious continuing harm or substantial destructive capacity); 4 Acute (an extreme event established by current evidence in that scope). A missing reading is ?, never zero.
These ordinal levels are not equally spaced measurements or probabilities. A level 3 pathogen and a level 3 nuclear inventory are not equally likely events. Physical hazards are assessed, not countries, political leaders, elections or policy choices. Each dial setting needs a written rationale.
Needles gently oscillate around a fixed published position. Steam and character poses derive from that same position. They never invent fresh measurements, change the verdict, or imply that a missile has launched. The robot’s toy blaster is a symbol, not evidence of a deployment.
One request, one complete update
The researcher opens sources, writes an assessment and self-checks it within one AI session. The resulting JSON needs no human approval record. The local publish command checks syntax, sources, chronology and consistency, then appends a snapshot. It does not call a model, commit or push.
A same-session self-check is not an independent audit. Validators cannot prove truth. The operator may be wrong; corrections are new snapshots, not silent edits to the archive. Original v1 snapshots retain their original contract and content.
Freshness is not safety
This static page does not query a model or hazard feed when a visitor opens it. New assessments appear when a new snapshot is published. The age badge updates every minute and after the tab becomes visible. Expiry marks an answer STALE without replacing its historical YES or NO. Each topic and auxiliary feed has its own expiry.
A new deployment does not refresh a source. Publication dates, reporting periods and consultation times are distinct. With JavaScript off, read the absolute UTC timestamps. Device-clock errors can affect calculated ages.
Read without motion
Pause stops character movement, needles and tickers, including without JavaScript. Reduced-motion preferences show a still page and wrapped dispatches. Every dispatch is also in the evidence drawer. All data is rendered as escaped text; no source-supplied HTML or code runs here.
